    Scrum engagement

Usually have a few interesting ones a season when you get a "big" guy who simply can't bend too low and his much smaller oppo struggles to get his short arms for a long bind. I usually tell them if you dick about we're going uncontested on safety grounds and they usually sort themselves out

Easy game for him, no real challenge as opposition turned up short so it was just about managing a run around but that's what many games are like at L7 here in Cumbria sadly

Law 19.22: Hooker failing to strike

Assuming the hooking team win the ball, Feeding would be the easy option and tell the pack leader the ball has to be struck by the hooker and scrum half, don't take the p*ss

    Stud gauge?

Rugulation 12.2 really doesn't help anyone. it's just a free for all. I had a stud gauge back in the day as we used to get a lot of RL type studs which were almost like running spikes!

To be fair it wasn't an official exchange he was just visiting the area and asked for a game. Our appointments guy is usually accommodating.

Is refereeing around the lineout becoming too pedantic?

But we have open play Dickie. The pod has gone beyond the line of touch so the lineout is over.

Is refereeing around the lineout becoming too pedantic?

From the lawbook (and note once the ball has moved from the line of touch the lineout is over) Flying wedge: An illegal type of attack, which usually happens near the goal line, either from a penalty or free-kick or in open play. Team-mates are latched on each side of the ball-carrier in a...

    Quiet weekend

To be even more pedantic, I think that we would all agree that a player juggling the ball trying to catch it would be liable to be legally tackled so they must be in possession!

Do clubs supply food for the opposition? That is standard in England so would be surprising if they couldn't spare a pie for the ref!

As others have said, 45p per mile in England all claimed via whose the ref every months which works really well. Always fed at clubs and 95% watered. (the ones who don't offer me a beer will not get a vote for the end of season Golden Whistle award this year it was Windermere BTW) I rarely...

Is refereeing around the lineout becoming too pedantic?

players may Leave the lineout so as to be in a position to receive the ball, provided they remain within 10 metres of the mark of touch and they keep moving until the lineout is over." Interesting and I stand corrected,. I guess using that law I could stretch a point and say they could all step...

Interesting, so if he's on the team-sheet do you just go home? does he play in areas outside of your society jurisdiction?

Is refereeing around the lineout becoming too pedantic?

There are a few things going on here. For me , first offence defenders leave the line and do not retire 10 M so they are offside (in this instance they could have just retired to try line) 2nd offence attempted maul is legally set up but moves off the line of touch therefore we have flying...

A question about tackle heights when there is a (perfectly legal) head level hand-off.

I doubt anyone would see grabbing an extended attempted hand off arm as a high tackle. It's what the tackler does next that matters. Nothing above the sternum, or an old school hand and foot tackle, play on.
