What type of restart occurs when the attacking team kicks the ball out the back of the defending teams in-goal?

Option: 22 Drop out or scrum where ball was kicked. Law 21.11: If a team kicks the ball through their opponents’ in-goal from the field of play into touch-in-goal or on or over the dead-ball line, the defending team can choose: To have a drop-out anywhere on or behind the 22-metre line; or...

How's things going in your area?

Interesting data posted in a different rugby forum (Green & Gold) on the players, clubs and team numbers in the Sydney 'Subbies' comp. https://www.greenandgoldrugby.com/community/threads/subbies-2023.19363/post-1354516 Unfortunately it's going in the wrong direction; but hopefully a good...

    Veo Camera's popping up everywhere!

The link I sent had sound, but the quality was not great (as per @Ciaran Trainor), maybe version of camera or software. I also agree with @Flish, with no up close view it doesn’t help for breakdown decisions etc, but, it did help me understand where my Comms and positioning could improve.

    Veo Camera's popping up everywhere!

I don't know if this is just a local thing, but this season I started to notice some little green boxes sitting up on tripod's next to the field at a few different clubs and schools. Last Saturday I asked the home club where I was refereeing what it was. Turns out that for $2000 (AUD) the club...

Where are you this weekend - 2023/24?

While in the Northern hemisphere you are all starting up for your season, it's the end of the XVs season here - grand finals for Seniors and Juniors. I'll be out with the Juniors: U13s E grade, and I'm very grateful to have a Finals appointment in my first year in a new association.

    France ... here we come!

My take: I think Eddie reached a point where essentially he had to decide to either take the existing team and lose, or take a gamble on a new players, where at least he has a chance of a surprise win. (i.e. the definition of insanity is doing the same thing and expecting a different result)...

The ball hit by a tent or tree outside the field.

Yes, and if the zombie is a person, are they still a person if they are a robo-zombie, or are only non-AI zombies are considered in the law.

Classic Eddie presser. Got to admit though, the akubra question was pretty stupid…..

Jersey Colour Issues for Comms ... any advice?

Yes, I liked that call that if there is a clash etc just call them the first thing that pops into your head - as that will be what you say once you get going - and those teams, it will probably be Pink.

Jersey Colour Issues for Comms ... any advice?

Yes, good advice, I will use Red next time.

Jersey Colour Issues for Comms ... any advice?

Players from one particularly well known rugby school who I called Pink kept telling me it was Cerise... I said if it was OK with them I'd continue using Pink....

Jersey Colour Issues for Comms ... any advice?

Yes! (but at least here at Junior club and school it's not a ref accountability). [I do track the scores on a notepad]

Jersey Colour Issues for Comms ... any advice?

Thanks Dickie! Also reminds me of a Dad joke that I've rolled out in the occasional Pre-Match Briefing, having heard it from somewhere. For teams who have a matching colour (in this case Blue): "If I say 'Red' I mean team A, if I say 'Gold' I mean team B, and if I say 'Blue' I mean everyone".

Jersey Colour Issues for Comms ... any advice?

Context: - I referee junior rugby (U10-U16) usually doing 2 games back to back, for different teams (usually the same home team, and then different away teams). - My preference is to use colour (as I often don't know the names of the clubs, being new to the association) rather than club/school...

    Maul not Moving Forward

@vimpe22 those crowds look amazing, having just moved to Sydney, I thought the schoolboy crowds were amazing here - but they look even better over there. I hope those players enjoy the games, and given the engagement and support they have; look forward to seeing Sri Lanka climb into the RWC...

    Maul not Moving Forward

That looks like great crowd - what game / series and where? All good for me, agree with @Flish, but even if 'stopped' at lineout (playing devils advocate) it would have been 1st stop (I.e move it or use it), then went forward within 5 seconds and over try line. It was the right outcome...

[U20 RWC] IRE v SA - Ball Caught and Carried into Touch

Sorry, I was a bit flippant there: In case they are not sure if it’s out, then if get wrong and catch it inside and take it out, where free kick would be better. (I probably should have watched clip, maybe does’t make sense in the example shown).

    that haka again..

Easy to mock a haka in soccer without our tackles and clean outs. I'm not sure I'd ever disrespect a haka before a game, unless I 100% wanted a physically brutal game. If I was a coach I'd probably be wanting to make the gap between the haka and kick off as long as possible, and look for a way...

[U20 RWC] IRE v SA - Ball Caught and Carried into Touch
