Apologies if already covered.

Can you benefit from a 50 -22 from a Free kick award? Obviously assuming all other 50 - 22 conditions are met. Can upin a game I was watching yesterday.

The answer is yes. So I have been told by those higher up.

Same, we had it come up in a law quiz at training. 50-22 perfectly acceptable from a FK and from a Mark FK

Thanks for the answers to my question. I thought so. The AR disagreed.

True, but it has been done a couple of times by other refs in my region

in your favour is that it would be pretty unexpected so the opposing team may not have anyone back to guard against it - could well be some space to aim for.

against you is that it is a long way - so gives quite a lot of time for an opponent to run some distance to gather the kick.

certainly would be an exciting thing to pull off !

May be one of those things to watch for when the team kicking have a decent breeze at their backs.

I spent all afternoon kicking the ball dead from my own half/22 at BP Chemicals RUFC in the days before the scrum back. It's next to the Humber with nothing between the Urals and the ground other than a church just outside Gdansk. It's always windy.

50-22 doesn't apply if taken back, or from a kick off or restart.

Restart is after a score or touchdown, so not form a GLD, 22DO or kick off from the centre.

Free Kicks are ok, and a Mark is a type of FK.

Also, kick off and restart kicks must land in play.
