Law 18.8a.

Reads
A player, in their own half, kicks the ball indirectly into touch in the opposition’s 22. Either the team did not take the ball into their half, or a tackle, ruck or maul took place within the half, or an opponent touched the ball within the half. This variation does not apply at a kick-off or any type of restart kick.

What can be the explanation be of within the own half and TRM taking place as all example video are off a break down following a TRm

Part of law reads . Or a tackle, ruck or maul took place within the half, or an opponent touched the ball within the half.

There could be a series of passing plays without a TRM situation and if opposition touches the ball, for example in and attempt to intercept, then you could kick the 50;22 even if originally you had passed the ball back into your own half.

It is much clear now than reading the law .

It is the same criteria that we have been using for a 22 gain-in-ground for how many years?

(c) gives you the lineout anyway. Why push your luck?

a FK in your own half is good for a 50:22

Plus line-out and scrum on halfway line backwards (as long as ball does not cross into the other half).
