Is there anything to say a referee must wear rugby boots? I'm thinking the ground will be hard over the weekend and my Inox fell/trail shoes would grip better and be faster and more comfy than my old faithful Adidas Flankers!

Nothing at all, other than perception.

I have a pair of Asics cross-country trainers that I occasionally wear for 7s and pre-season friendless. Te only downside to wearing a less sturdy shoe/boot is if a player accidentally stands on your foot.

This, I think for Adult 15s it's boots all the time, although I'm already wearing some Asics Gel hockey trainers for minis and junior games, which are mostly at my home club with is very clay based so bakes hard quickly.

I either wear Asics Gel Lacrosse mouldies, or my current Trail Runners. Super light and great to run on.

I wear Asics Hockey shoes when it's rock hard. They're sturdy enough to repel errant studs too.

Asics Gel Typhoon - Hockey shoes or similar.
