Hey, I was the AR. I pointed it out to the Referee.
What he does with that information is up to him.
He decided in the context of this game it wasn't important.

An opinion you concur with. No? "Which was the correct approach in my opinion (for this game)."

I'm still curious what the ref said. Was it something like "lads, the designated members aren't really sure if its legal or not, so the next ref may or may not ping it"?

I think it was something like, its not happening near the tryline, not material.

For me, the critical question appears to be, are players planting their arms on the ground intentionally to gain advantage, or incidental hand down for balance... if it happens repeatedly and in a consistent manner (such as OP and Phil's U20 game), that is intentional IMHO.

Is it important? The players obviously think it provides an advantage or they wouldn't do it. This forum and WR have recognised an increased injury risk with this technique, therefore I feel it should not go unchecked.
