defending 9 interference

What specific law prevents a defending #9 from bumping, shoving, leaning on, or phyiscally aggravating the attacking #9 , holding the ball, before the put-in?


Other than a attentive ref or a punch on the nose from attacking #9, what prevents this?

Obviously pre... the "stand back & observe numbers" days of refereeing , at one stage ref was face down whilst mayhem reigned around....:wtf:

Mike Teague won the biffing IMO, & BCM did indeed have nice colour co-ordinated headtape ! :clap:

Oh & marching the two players away from the cuffuffle ..... another lost refereeing art !

10.4 m or 10.4.n? is the ball in play before it is fed into the scrum?

Same outcome of course.

good demo of exactly why referees should stand back. it must have been pretty terrifying in the middle of that.

Watching the SdF game a couple of weeks ago, I did wonder. White 9 did something off that list every scrum.
