Barring serious injury this u16 lad looks destined for the top

Wonder what the exchange rate is ....Ponga's to the £ ? , hopefully his family have a holiday cottage Near Malham Tarn !
:)sarc:)

Brilliant. If only we had more players like this instead of the battering rams. Skills learnt playing tag in the playground rather than fiddling on a mobile phone/gameboy/xbox.

A joy to watch - so many wow moments.

I'd be interested to see how he would play in a game where the opponents are coached to not tackle and defend with some of the poor technique and structure seen here. Good player but play in a 19s international and you only get so much space. What I really wanted to see in the video was him get cut in half more than a few times and get up and adapt his game.

Current Referee grade:
Select Grade
The quality of his stepping, angles and change of pace made much of the defence look ordinary. He will adapt in time, looks to be a very good prospect. Comparing U16 rugby to an U19 international is just ridiculous!

Queensland Reds probably already have him in their junior academy program

I was thinking that he might head into the Aussie 7's program, but ...........Oh no, further investigation reveals he's already gone to the dark side !

"15-year-old Kalyn Ponga has inked a professional deal with NRL outfit North Queensland Cowboys after being chased by no less than five other professional sporting clubs in Australia. With talent across a few codes he was chased by AFL club Brisbane Lions after starring in their academy program.

Super Rugby franchise Queensland Reds wanted him on their books and in terms of the NRL Brisbane Broncos, Melbourne Storm and Sydney Roosters all came calling before he eventually settled on the Cowboys"

Aside from some great individual skill it's nice to see how unselfish he is - happy to give the ball when other players with a bit more of an ego may well have gone themselves. Good player, shame he has chosen the wrong code!
