How to show You Tube video's in your post, so people don't have to follow a link to see it.

Everytime I want to do this I forget how to do it, so I am posting this sticky post as a guide.

This is the you tube URL from the address bar in your browser:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EqOL_QQ4gRA

This is what goes in RRF:
(NB you just need to add square brackets at either end, I had to take them out so the link would show its text and not the video).

video=youtube;EqOL_QQ4gRA]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EqOL_QQ4gRA[/video

If you copy the second bit (directly above) and paste the bold part (see below) of the URL from You Tube into it it should work.

From the URL copy the bold bit:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EqOL_QQ4gRA

Paste it over the bold bit below:
video=youtube;EqOL_QQ4gRA]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EqOL_QQ4gRA[/video

Add a [ at the start and a ] at the end.

Job done.

actually Phil the INSERT VIDEO button on the tool bar makes it all a lot easier - just press the button and paste the link into the dialog box that pops up

Well that won't have worked because you didn't follow the instructions, you just copy and pasted the You Tube URL???

I actually tried the 'insert You Tube' button which didn't work. But you are correct that the insert video button does work, as long as you use the URL from the address bar and not the short URL from the You Tube 'Share' or 'Embed' link.
