I received an e-mail recently asking this question:

“What new rule was introduced in the 1980s via schoolboy rugby, before causing controversy in a World Cup and being abandoned completely?”

I haven't a clue myself... so, over to OB (or indeed any pretenders).

I seem to remember a similar question cropping up somewhere before. I recall if being something to do with the scrum. Maybe they had a "touch" in at sometime before. Others will remember Im sure!

Doesn't mean anything to me.

Obviously it has been wrapped up in some way designed NOT to help ...

Yes - distant memories of this in 80s.

There was a Schools Law that came in and then was abandoned (not sure about World Cup though ?).

It may come back to me after copious amounts of fermented brown liquid - watch this space.
