Ball kicked into in-goal then goes into touch-in-goal or across dead-ball line. Defending team gets choice of drop-out or scrum where the ball was kicked. Does it matter if the ball caroms off a defender, who is standing in goal, before it goes into touch-in-goal or across dbl?

This is a good question.

My understanding of 22.8 is that if contact by or with any other player after the kick, the scrum option is negated.

Yes it does. It is now no longer the attacking kicker who has made the ball dead, but the defender. Having the ball bounce off him into TiG or over the DBL is the same as if he had grounded the ball or carried it dead.

As Dickie says, the scrum option has now gone.
