Most people I know have the nous to vote for the one the most like even if they don't want to change... just in case.

I could fly this flag

or this one

Which I ranked #1 and #2 respectively. If either of these wins the first referendum, I will be voting for change

However, heaven forbid that this one should win...

Which I ranked #5.

If "Peak Engineering's Company Logo wins...

....I will be voting to keep the existing flag.

My thoughts exactly - well almost. I had my 1 & 2 ranked the other order, and I would also vote for change if the black and white fern came in. The other 2 designs are horrendous IMO, especially that hideous peak one.

No, actually its the other way around

The New Zealand Flag has been in use unchanged since 1869. After the formation of the colony in 1840, British "Blue Ensigns" began to be used. The current flag was designed and adopted for use on Colonial ships in 1869 following an Imperial statute and became New Zealand's national flag in 1902.

The Australian flag came about as a result of a flag designing competition in 1901 and was not officially adopted as Australia's national flag until 1908. Prior to 1901, Australia was six separate colonies and the only real effort at a combined national Flag was this one...

While the flags developed somewhat independently the current Australian flag (with a 6 point star) was adopted in 1901. In 1908, the 7th point was added to the star.
