‘Zero tolerance’ crackdown on abuse of rugby referees as threats rise

I noticed a lot more backchat and mouthiness at the beginning of last season, from players and coaches alike (not so the spectators though). By the end of the season it seemed to have simmered down.
It may be partly connected with returning to the game and making worse calls, but it did seem to be more than that. And it seems I'm not the only one who felt that way... anyone else noticed a sea change?
