RIP Paul Dobson

Paul Dobson, known as ‘Oupa’ to many closely associated with rugby365 [and sareferees.co.za], passed away on Monday afternoon – after losing his battle with illness.

No eulogy can truly do justice to this mild-mannered gentleman that has been such an inspiration to us.
However, we will give you a glimpse of the special man that he was.
Paul Dobson was so much more than just the world-acclaimed writer and refereeing guru most people knew him as.

I always enjoyed his law discussions.

So did I. In fact I had many an email discussion with him on various points of history and law. He wrote a lot of sense, even on the rare occasions when we disagreed.
