Reffed a schools' 1st XV game today.
White #7 was tackled hard, chest to chest. Legal, but a real bone cruncher.
He went to ground and laid the ball back, but he looked a bit like a rag-doll, not much movement, but no clear sign of injury.
I thought "hmmm, best keep an eye on the young fella"
Ball gets played away by his team to a pod and #7 gets somewhat shakily to feet. He's in my peripheral vision.
As he returns to his team's backline he collapses to the ground, lying on his front.
I thought "holy shit, he's had a seizure or something"
I immediately blow the whistle, thinking the worst. As I got to him and ask if he's OK, he looks up from the ground and says "yeah, I'm fine. I just wanted to get out of the passing line between my SH & #10".
Sheepish ref restarted with scrum to White
