Interestingly probably the most brutal ball sport, American Football, allows an ejected player to be replaced
They use a 43(?) man squad to put 11 players on the field at any one time. A rather different concept from rugby.

Aussie Rules didn't have a send off law at all until pretty recently (and still doesn't at the elite level - you can literally do whatever you like and cant be removed, although the umpires could abandon the game)
Do games ever get abandonned? Is foul play rife?

No & no.

Quite the opposite - a lot of pushing & shoving but never a punch thrown.

Players can & do get put on report and tribunal deals with that (plus post match citings).

So the sport does not actually need a red card provision. Excellent. I wish rugby were the same, but unfortunately it isn't.

I didn't say that. I think all sports should give officials the ability to YC or RC if needed.

In the US there is a problem coz too many people bear arms. Perhaps the problem in Rules is all those players who bare arms.

Yes but thats a very different game. 45 players with unlimited rolling substitutions and specialists in the various different set pieces (yes I know we have scrum specialists but they don't get subbed off immediately after a scrum like in American Football).

Part of this is a separate defence and attack, would you put the defence down to 10 but not the attack? Special teams? A lot of ejections are miscreants from the sidelines getting involved when they shouldn't. Very different game and not really comparable.
