Kicking off this season with a practice match: local derby, students vs city. Could be spicy, could be amicable, it's always hard to tell.

Peoria @ Rockford (Midwest D3)

My goal will be to not cramp. Warm weather expected (low 80s), plus Peoria's backline loves to run from anywhere.
Not surprised you might cramp. At 80 degrees you should be done to medium rare by the end of the match.

Mens D3 - Chicago Blaze 2nds @ Peoria. Should be another track meet in hot weather (high is 86F), both teams have hung big scores against lesser opposition.

L8 league game between Seaham and Ryton - had this fixture at the end of last season when league positions were settled and nothing to play for, absolute cracker in the best possible spirit - hoping for a repeat

This weekend I have my first official NL-MOT gig as AR2 in NL2N at:-

Harrogate v Sedgley Park

Harrogate bottom, Sedgley 3 from 3.

Here's hoping I DFIU and/or make the referee look a t**t.

Looking forward to it.

I may even iron my laces.

D2 Men: Milwaukee Barbarians @ Fox Valley

Both teams 0-2. Milwaukee is rebuilding, after voluntarily dropping from D1, most of the top talent skipped over to Madison. Fox Valley is new to D2, having run roughshod over the area D3 league.

This is a stretch assignment, and looks to be a cracker.

After the dizzy heights of L4 AR2 I am back to weeds Rugby at L10 🤣

Rotherham Phoenix v Aireborough (Leeds)

Both teams unbeaten thus far so should be competitive at least.

I am half expecting a call from NL-MOTS before the weekend.

Hopefully finally fit for m first game 15th October after months of knee strengthening exercise!

AR'ing Indiana vs Illinois (college D1A), then in the middle for the B-side (Big Ten has a separate league for B sides). Missed Old Boys this year, will finally get a chance to meet the new coach.

Level 7 this week.
Got a great report last week in my annual MOT, but that was at level 9, so I would have hoped for nothing else.

Last time I went to this club was maybe a couple of years ago. They put a video of a try on their social media, taken from in goal (so the opposite of my angle) and then used it to beat me up about my decision virtually. They were made to take it down and apologise, but they are still not on my Christmas card list. Lot of water under the bridge since then, so planning to turn up with no agenda.

I did Middlesbrough v Barnard Castle a few years ago. They seem to have gone their separate ways since then. Boro' are L6 (near top) and BC are down the bottom of D&N 2.

Sadly yes, sign of the times around player engagement, they used to have a 2s which is now gone I think, and yes their 1s do appear to be going backwards, got well beat in the 1 game I had them for last seasons

Change

Now at L6 Schools Game.

Woodhouse Grove (Bradford) v RGS Newcastle.

In terms of running around from the sublime to the ridiculous!!

Anyway last school game I did was during Covid and was that hybrid Rugby League stuff with no Scrums and Mauls and endless FKs.

Should be ok, it's usually the DoRs/Coaches at "public" schools who are the problem - a lot of the time not qualified teachers and behaving the same way they do at their other jobs at the local club.

Also school = no beer - although that's not strictly true as Ampleforth give you some of the stuff the monks brew - which is rank! :)
