Hi, I'd liike to buy a really nice whistle for a new (UK based) coach. Possibly get it engraved with initials. Does anyone have any recommendations please? Thanks.

Thanks all. Much appreciated. I didn't realise there were so many variations! It looks like the Acme Thunderer 58.5 is the most popular for rugby?

It's what I've been using for all my refereeing years and what I recommend tto all new referees that I deal with.

Hate when a referee uses anything else...but that's probably just me! !

I think the 60.5 is higher pitched and tends to be used by football (soccer) referees.

Use the shiny whistles for looking at.

Use the Acme Thunderer 558 (polycarbonate) for making a noise.

Never had a shiny one since I bought the PC one.

They are a bit difficult to engrave granted.

I always used the 558. Black plastic or whatever.

I think it is the loudest and has the deepest tone.
