Goal Line or 22 Drop out

Hmmm. Great question. Do you give the option? -Goal line drop out more controlled, as in, you definitely get the ball and kick it. -5m Scrum, the potential for scrum loss or penalty. But potentially get more metres from punt vs DK

Goal Line or 22 Drop out

Yep, Sorry, I missed the fine print:

Goal Line or 22 Drop out

The final one for clarifying. Attacker, who is still in the field of play, knocks-on. The ball lands in-goal. As the knock on occurred in the field of play, I assume a scrum at the nearest point in the scrum zone? Ie, 5m scrum with non-offending team to feed?

Goal Line or 22 Drop out

Thanks for the clarification guys. The US rugby table is really useful. Hopefully WR will update the law book with more concise descriptions.

Goal Line or 22 Drop out

Ah, that’s it. So basically, if the ball is carried into the in-goal by the attacking team and no try in scored, then goal line drop-out? If the ball is carried or passed in by defenders, and touched down then scrum. 22 only on penalty restart or if kicked through by attackers (with scrum as...

Goal Line or 22 Drop out

G’Day Guys, So just after some clarification on touch in-goal laws. 21.4 When an attacking player holding the ball grounds the ball in in-goal and simultaneously makes contact with the touch-in-goal line or the dead-ball line (or anywhere beyond either), a 22-metre drop-out is awarded to the...

Diving over players on the ground

Those are good points and I agree; Nic is excellent and made the call in real-time. I'll concede that 15.5 is out of play. It really doesn't look like he making a tackle to me. Clearly going for the ball. So if we view it in that light, knock back by Pita Gus and play on?

Diving over players on the ground

https://www.theroar.com.au/rugby-union/video/referee-nic-berry-under-fire-for-two-home-crowd-decisions-while-brumbies-were-in-attack-1284137/ At 1:10 of the video in the link, the black player dives over the ruck to knock the ball from the white player's hands. Is this legal? 15.5 An arriving...

    Chiefs v Brumbies

Surely Black seven has come in from the side? Full video is here. Due to the white support players clearing to the side, its appears a bit unclear on weather its a ruck or a tackle. But either way, 14.8c or 15.5 both cover side entry. Let me know what you think...

    Crusader vs Reds

In fridays Super Rugby Reds vs Crusaders match, crusaders (white) are takled close to the reds line wher a ruck forms. The crusaders scrum half (21) burrows in to retrieve the ball. He then picks it up and places over the try line without clearing the ball from the ruck. Video in the link below...

    Waratahs v chiefs

From the ARU Game Management Guidelines 2022 Ball out and collapsed ruck The ball is only out of a ruck (or scrum) when it is totally exposed, or it is clear of bodies. Players cannot step through or over the middle of a collapsed ruck before the ball is cleared or the ball is completely...

    Foul play?

Looks bad. Maroon player has his arm extended, looks like he intended to block the bother player. I’d go PK.

The final ruck of Brumbies vs Blues

I don’t disagree with the above comments. I guess, in trying to find justification, you may be able to say blue 7 went off his feet in the action of cleaning out. Orange 12 seemed to be his target, but pulled back, leaving 7 no one to drive, hence lost footing. With the speed and skill of...

    Waratahs v chiefs

Looking at the 1st ruck in this clip. Blue 3 seems to infringe on a couple of counts. Coming in from the side (not last feet) Hands in ruck. Surely the ball wasn’t out as the commentator is saying? But even if it was out, then he comes from in front of last feet, so is offside.
