Saw this statistic and got me thinking, especially after being assessed having had a bit of a bad day with the scrum a few months ago, having reset 7, with a further 9 wheels and 5 collapses in a game.
(c) Scrum resets per match:
The average number of resets per match so far has been:
Lions vs Bay of Plenty: 29,5%
Lions vs Taranaki: 78,5%
Lions vs Maori: 59%
Lions vs Wellington: 82%
Lions vs Otago: 20%
Lions vs Southland: 46%
Lions vs New Zealand: 70%
Lions vs Manawatu: 67%
Now if you take the Taranaki, Wellington and even the 1st test, we are looking at about 7 in 10 or more scrums having problems.
Which leads to my question for you all, why are the top officials (from NZ and Mr Jutge) having such difficulties with the scrum? Or am I looking at this statistic in the wrong way? Is it a case of they are failing to combat the problems here, or is there something deeper to it?
