Entertaining opinion piece here.
The tone is rather more anti-ELV than is necessary, but two valuable points made:
1) The ELVs do not guarantee a "better" game than the existing Laws
2) The SANZAR nations' lack of meaningful domestic competition once the S14 has finished should be addressed by some other means, especially considering that the game under the existing Laws is in rude health in the North.
The aside about the Italian RWC bid was interesting too. I was bitterly disappointed that the 2011 tournament wasn't awarded to Japan - let's be honest, the rugby market in NZ is about as developed as it's going to get - the IRB missed a big opportunity for capturing a new market by not going to Japan. I hope they get the 2015 tournament, though I fear the idea of two successive RWC's in the GMT+9/10/11/12 time zones will not sit well with the Home Nations...
