Hi All,

watching a game yesterday - when ball was lost in scrum whole back row was standing to watch S/H with single (flankers) or both hands (No 8) only binding onto team mates shorts.....no use of the whole arm, so surely penalty?

Went on all game, no penalty, no complaint from other team......to my mind players not staying bound until scrum finished...penalty....am I wrong?

thanks,

Timotei

You are correct. Ref should have spotted it but sounds like he wasn't looking for it
If it wasn't material, ask, tell, then penalise.
Back row probably knew they were getting away with it.

Thanks Ciaran - seemed so obvious that I thought I had lost the plot completely, and it ate away at me all day!

Sanity restored - as near as possible - cheers.
