During a game last season a try was scored and then converted. After which one of the defending players was heard to say. Are you ef ing blind ref did you not see the knock on why didn't you award the scrum. Now I was planning on dealing with dissent as it wasn't his first remark but I thought how do I award a penalty when there is no actual play taking place. How could I give a penalty or should I have just sent him off ?

I would have yellow carded him, then restarted play with a penalty at center against his team

If there is misconduct while the ball is out of play the sanction is a penalty at the place the game would restart, which in this case is on halfway.

Penalty and YC or just a penalty - it depends on how blatant the knock on was that you missed

"Are you ef ing blind ref?"

:noyc: all day long, every day, without exception.

This kind of behaviour must be stamped on at all levels.

Anything less, and we risk descending into the kind of referee abuse that passes for normal in Wendyball.

Also, PK on half way to the opposing team as others have stated

As a MINIMUM PK restart on half way, as well as a word with the Captain.
