Do any of our resident historians of the law know how long the definition of a kick has excluded striking the ball with the knee?
Thanks

in 1959 the definition of a kick was [LAWS]A kick is made by propelling the ball with the foot or leg from the knee to the toe inclusive. [/LAWS]
By 1974 this was still the definition, but when a taking a penalty kick a note to the laws said a player was not allowed to bounce the ball on his knee.
(I don't have any lawbooks between those two dates.)

The 2000 re-write moved that prohibition to the definition of a kick.
