Law 20.10 (c) states :
(c) Hindmost player unbinds. The hindmost player in a scrum is the player whose feet are nearest the team’s own goal line. If the hindmost player unbinds from the scrum with the ball at that player’s feet and picks up the ball, the scrum ends

But what happens if the hindmost player unbinds WITHOUT the ball? eg: 8 unbinds, goes blind without the ball (shouting "BLIND!"), leaving the ball for the SH to play open side

I had this happen in an U 14 game believe it or not. The No 8 unbound then stepped to one side while the SH picked up the ball and went off in a different direction.

It just didn't look right, so I penalised him although I admit I looked it up when I got home.
