For some reason I'd read this (and based off the video) as the ball had to land into touch from the knock on.


After having a knock on occur that bobbled into touch and stopping the quick throw my assessor pointed out that it's the same as for a penalty kick going into touch (i.e. doesn't need to be direct).

Just thought I'd share for others who may have been thinking along the same lines as me.

I always find it rather gratifying when a senior ref makes the occasional cock up.
Makes me feel less vulnerable. :wink:

Yup, it's happened to me ... once ... when the ball rolled for about 2m after the KO until it went into touch. But I just forgot to link the 2 incidents, not a case of interpretation.
