So Walsh tells the Scots that they are essentially going off their fert. Agree with him. The Scottish commentator then say "But that's what they are coached to do!" If you are coached to pass forwards, guess what, you are pinged. If you are coached to do X or Y which contravenes the LotG then you will be pinged. Coaches don't make up the laws.

Unfortunately, that is precisely what happened in the whole "hit" debacle.

Current Referee grade:
Level 7
No problem with Walsh's comment but the problem was his consistency on the issue and for that matter consistency on this area at an elite level overall

something like that.

officially put that feather in my cap. brilliant.

but they are doing it all the time in every game! the ref in teh game I'm watching now seems fine with it.
