The professional game does not make out life at the amateur level very easy. What with squint feeds, long arm transfer at the maul etc. But have a look at some of the padding worn in the professional game. The one that caught my eye today was Keith Earls's body armour. My eye was drawn to the padding on his back, it is also all over his chest and shoulders. Now you see a lot of back padding in American Football, but we're not playing American Football, we are playing rugby where this sort of padding is specifically outlawed in the game.

If this is not enforced at the highest level what hope have we got of enforcing the laws down the levels?

Split the two games officially. Be honest and publish a "PRO" Law Book and leave the grassroots game alone.

I disagree, there is no need for separate laws, just enforce the ones we have at all levels of the game.
