Holy Cow! Veldsman is slated to be the TMO for Ireland V England in the 6N next week. He was stabbed in his car after officiating at Newlands stadium. It's not clear whether the assault was in reaction to his performance at the game, or was unrelated.
I hope he recovers quickly enough to come to Ireland to fulfil his duties.

The main incident in the match was when Triggs gets sent off in the 24th min, the TMO doesn't have the deciding recommendation, although the crowd might not be aware of that!
Whilst the possibility of these two events being connected exists, I hope that there isn't a direct connection, if it transpires that there is then this event will sadly trump the infamous Pieter van Zyl incident in seriousness for a number of reasons.
Either way, this is sure to ignite the subject of 'security' toward officials.
I hope he makes a complete recovery .
