I actually hate to drag this one up as it seems to cause much debate...
*flashback*
ie http://www.rugbyrefs.com/showthread.php?13721-knock-on-or-play-on-from-kick&highlight=knockon
1/3 believed that a BC"lost possession" ball that is kicked to be saved from a knock-on is a permitted kick - while 2/3 thought it was a knock on ie thrusting a foot out to kick a lost ball is not a saviour to a knock on!.
The new simplified laws have now added "intentional" dropping of the ball to define types of kicks.
"Punt: A player intentionally drops the ball and kicks it before it touches the ground."
"Drop-kick: After being intentionally dropped to the ground from the hand or hands, the ball is
kicked as it rises from its first bounce."
Does that clear it up that a lost possession of a ball lost forward and kicked/punted is not a kick and is a knock on?? (I think it does).
