In the England v Wales game, first half the tmo is consulted on no arms tackle. However the players didn't appear to react till the whistle went. After review we went back to scrum side in possession. Instead of go forward ball for the attackers.

Views?

Average ref never going to have the call as it's black and white without the tmo, either foul play or not so penalty and probably card or play on.

The actual call from the ref and tmo was spot on though I think.

Did not see the game but can you clarify?

Did the ref stop play for the TMO or did he have a "natural" stoppage, such as a knock on? If he stopped for the knock on and then revied he would give the Knock on scrum.

Or did he stop if to make the review?

if so 20.4 (d) applies.

SO- Side going forward get the put in

Or

if neither side was going forward then the ATTACKING side (side in the opposition half) get the put in.

In my view

* tackle fair - low and with arms
* tackled player dropped the ball forward in the tackle
* scrum feed to defending team

Ref played team going forward [tackled player's team] scrum feed:biggrin:

Ref blew the whistle, for the foul play. But on TMO review, it was deemed not foul play, so restart to team in possession at time of stoppage.
