Since at the bottom of every ruck there is a tackled player who has, by design, put himself in a position between the opponents and the ball then the very act of 'rucking' will need to be abolished. This will be known as the "Browner" rule. No thanks.
No, genuine pushing/dragging/manouvering the ball back toward your teammates as you engage with (wrestle/ shove) an opponent (also on his feet) is legitimate rucking and I have no wish to see it removed from the game.
But a size 12 boot attached to 18+ stone forward that it recklessly / unlookingly / without being in control of what it connects with .... is a completely different scenario, aside from the fact that the player isn't actually trying to keep possession ( he's trying to boot it away from him!)
I see this in a similar vein to the lift and tip tackle, in that they aren't always dangerous, but those that turn out to be simply mean that the others aren't worth the risk.
Next time a player gets his teeth sent down his throat, via a view is blocked/reckless studs waverer, then he'll be comforted knowing that maurader thinks ...ah shit happens player.
