You are right, but it may give a good indication that the IRB feel that 5 seconds is ample, and anything much above that is just taking the piss. How long is too long? There is no definate answer, but if I start start shouting at the telly - it's probably too long. And yesterday for example I found myself shouting at the telly a lot.

I stayed on to watch the Women's game at Twickenham yesterday. In the second half I heard a familiar voice just behind me and at a break in play I looked round. It was Brian Moore, who was just about to leave. I took the opportunity to introduce myself and thank him for his contributions on here. I also asked if he was still refereeing. "Occasionally", he said in a manner that suggested very rarely (at most).

OB - did the ref who oversaw the women's game swallow her whistle?

There must have been 30 pens in that game at least!

I didn't count, but there were certainly a lot. She was French, I believe, so there may have been a communication problem?
