A rule of thumb we were given that Premiership Referees use. Once the ball has gone, two steps by the tackler is late and he could have pulled out, one step is committed and he can't.

Yes, thank you. Phil e info is no f'in good to anyone but RFU people. It is sweet and somewhat sensible.
I might even relay to my Society, but it is just an idea to the rest of us.

It is odd that we are measuring "late", a term defined by time, to footsteps. What would happen if a flat footed player tackled post pass? perhaps after a L/O just ended. Suddenly footsteps no longer apply and we have to use actual time.
