possible derail...

The couple of facetious :)-) ) posts about blue taking out the man in the air got me thining...

If red had in fact flipped over blue's body and landed on his head... what's the difference then between that and a chased kick that ends up with the same outcome? The oly C&O difference is that blue kicked the ball not stood beneath it landing...

They talk about being in a 'realistic position to catch the ball' (though, TBH 'where the f****** thing is going to land' is a pretty realistic position to catch it, but they still get penalised).

In this case neither player was!

But in seriousness, why treat this any differently than if it were open play? Someone tries to charge down a punt and clatters the kicker like that and I'd call that a penalty.
