So how does this typically work? Well once everyone is taught how to create their personal on-tap motivation and drive they wildly apply this passion into training. Tick one week, or maybe two weeks of progress. But now to continue to grow, their needs to be (in no particular order) some quality learning, then some shifting of beliefs, then some strategic distinctions, then some team play insights, then some new technical pointers, then some personal insight into what each individual needs to be their best,
then learning how to give and receive feedback more effectively, then shifting of some old mindsets, then some new training application with that mindset, then some unlearning of; bad habits, poor decision making processes and low quality beliefs, then some .... And so on... you get the continuous improvement process. It needs to be dynamic because it is very hard to predict what each person and team would need to find their 5% for any given week, week in and week out.

I believe referee's on development squads already do (along with their coaches) the parts in bold.
Referees generally do a lot of self analysys and self assessment. I believe Societies could do more, but so could referees.

at our Society Development Squad level mental attitude, match preparation, positive thinking, visualisation, effective communication, listening skills, etc are all included as part of the development programme - for them and their coaches.

By Federation & Group levels it is a component of the communication & management part of the assessment / coach's review, and on Panel very much an intergral part of performance measurement. The RFU Refs Dept has a full time guy who deals with this area of performannce enhancement (he is very good, even if he is an Aussie !).

Highly recommend a book entitled 'Mind Games'. All about mental preparation.
