Gents, I am trying to fill out my paperwork fro the weekend regarding a red card I issued (1 of 3 to the same team!!!!!).

I sent a player off for threatening me, however, I can't find the relevant law in the good book. Can you help please?

10.4 m & s

I knwo these are vague, but if you look in the regulations for the sanctions, it has verbal abuse of Match Official, and these 2 laws. Physical abuse, and threatening Actions or words give the same.

http://www.irb.com/mm/document/lawsregs/regulations/04/23/19/42319%5fpdf.pdf

Verbal abuse: LE 6, MR 12, TE 18
Physical abuse: LE 24, MR 48, TE 96
Threatening Actions/words: LE 12, MR 24, TE 48

10.4 (m) Act contrary to good sportsmanship, then write it as abuse of match offical

or 10.4 (s) All players must respect the authority of the referee

I think it sounds like a 10.4(s) offence. Using anything else is surely tangential to what actually happened. Your red card report should be very clear about the aggravating threatening/abusive nature of this particular example of failing to respect the referee's authority.

Current Referee grade:
Level 15 - 11
in particular, quote the exact words used. i'm sure the disciplinary people will have heard a lot worse - maybe even used them from time to time :)
