Just watching a TV game Pontypridd against Ebbw Vale........ Ponty kick ahead ball is over try line no Ebbw player has touched the ball in an attempt to ground ball POnty player knocks it on and it goes dead. Ref decision after going to TMO scrum 5 to Ebbw. Should Ebbw have been offered the advantage of the 25 drop out ?

Pretty sure you can’t get an advantage by the ball going dead, or something to that effect, so back for the the scrum.

If you were watching a game with 25-yard drop outs yes.
But if it was from almost any season with 22 metre drop outs then no.
A knock on in or into the in goal results in a 5m scrum.

The usual suspect will be along shortly claiming the advantage law should have been played (and a 22 dropout awarded) in 3... 2... 1...

You are so busy stamping on this you have never really bother to understand it . This is not quite the scenario we have discussed before .

Anyway .. for this one I don't have the energy to go through this again, so will post one question and leave you all to think about it

Blue knock on into touch
... Red get options, scrum or lineout

Blue put ball into in goal and then knock on into touch in goal
.. red get

It makes perfectly sense: the difference between a lineout and a scrum at the place of the infringement is usually a few meters at most. Awarding a 22DO for knocking-on dead harshly brings the attacking team back by 22+ meters while the defending team should already be happy the opponents didn't score a try as they were in the position to knock-on from the in-goal. Equity.

Ref was correct.

You might have someone along shortly to argue otherwise ...

Both scenarios are explicit in the laws.

No room for argument in my opinion. Unless/until the law is changed this is a settled issue.
