there's not much point discussing a specific incident without a video.

pegleg - as you describe it, of course it's a cock up. But perhaps it didn't happen quite as you describe it..

My experience is that - many times - a video reveals that what you think you see in real time isn't quite what happened.

have you seen a video yourself by now?

Yes I saw the video before posting. It was sent to me for reasons that I am part of the process. I was not aware of the referee's position at the time I saw it. As posted he has been told, and agrees it was an error. One of those immediate reactions that later you regret.

Thankfully the error did not significantly change the result. or the BP situation. I am reliably told the better team won.

I was not looking at the specific incident as such as the scenario as written. Sometimes when you put the detail to others then they see the relevant law that has been missed. This discussion has not thrown that up. So the "grievence" is fair. Of course you are right somerime the video unearths events missed at the time which do change the scenario.
