At work, and just put this story through onto the website.

Ref dies during kids rugby game

Don't know what to say really - my thoughts are with his family, and the Marlborough/Tasman referees.

When your time is up , that's it.

I friend of mine died (valve defect) aged 46 whilst we were indoor rugby training, it is saddening but there are worse ways to go than an internal quick failure doing something you enjoy.

The kids will be scarred by the memory of what they saw, that much is sure.

Hats off to him still facilitating a game of rugby for the participation and enjoyment of kids (and possibly seniors) at 62. Obviously doing something he enjoyed and from the short article had earned the respect of many. RIP sir.

Fixed your OP

Jeez, I hope its not who I think it is. I have an ex-RNZAF colleague who is that age and he referees in Blenheim
