I believe the answer to #186 is wrong.

Question Reference Number: 186
At a drop-out, Gold #6 charges across the 22-metre line before the Blue kicker drop-kicks. The ball travels ten metres before going into touch. What do you do?

A. Nothing; play on.
B. Award a line-out to Blue where the ball went into touch.
C. Have Blue drop-out again.
D. Offer Blue an option of either B or C.

Incorrect - You answered A.
The correct answer is: C.
13.17a [*2] : At a drop-out, the opposing team must not charge over the 22-metre line before the ball is kicked. If they do, another drop-out is taken.

Unfortunately, law 13.17(a) says:
(a) The opposing team must not charge over the 22-metre line before the ball is kicked.
Sanction: Free Kick at the place of infringement.

A free kick is not even offered as an option.

Re: #186 early charge at a dropout

In 2003 13.18.a provided for another drop out when the opposition charged early.

By 2007 13.17.a changed that to a Free Kick.

The change of number is because the 2003 13.1 and 13.2 were combined and slightly reworded by 2007

This question clearly needs revising - but I am curious as to when the change was made - the combining of 13.1 and 13.2 must have preceded the change to a FK for the early charge - or else the wording of the questiuon would surely not refer to 13.17a but rather to 13.18.a

OB will know.
