Apologies if this is blindingly obvious to all, but I'm just not quite sure...

Green on their 5M line, kick to clear. Two yellow players attempt to charge down. First player (half a metre in front) misses but his momentum carries him into the in goal area. Second yellow player succeeds in charge down, ball goes into in goal. First yellow player dives on it.

Try or offside? Thanks.

There's a popular misconception that a charge-down puts everyone onside. Not so. It only puts the kickers team onside - team mates of the charger-down are offside in front of the player who last played the ball.

So as Ian says - offside.

Current Referee grade:
Level 2
Another misconception is you cannot be offside in in-goal. Also untrue.

No, he's saying quite the opposite, you can be offside in in-goal. There are people who believe that this is not so. They also believe you can't take a 2nd penalty quickly and that you've got to let him up!
