I was wondering what if any, is the time keeping watch of choice for refereeing? I have one that has large digits...something to do with my age, my wife tells me....What about you?
There have been a few thread on this (look them up).
From the top of my head, you'll see a lot of G-Shock, a few GPS trackers (Gamin, Polar, etc...) and fewer Referee watches (Casio RFT, etc..).
Personally, I use a Spintso Referee watch and my back up is an Adidas sports watch with huge digits...
same- it does the job, and I bought it because you have a choice of vibrate or bleep (I choose vibrate).
on my other wrist I have a Garmin Forerunner to keep track of how far I run. I start it at kick off, so also provides elapsed time, occasionally useful.
Now that's what I call a Ref's watch!! Sadly it only appears to be a soccer watch/pda.....altough I think this may well be beyond my pay grade anyway.
I found this one that I have been using for a while and it seems excellent for the ocularly challenged like me - with very big digits - and not too expensive;
This one's also great if you want large face and big digits: http://www.astopwatch.com/products/...sp?watch=Fastime11&group=teamsportstopwatches IIRC there used to be bespoke models of this for football/hockey/rugby which had normal time/extra time options that'd automatically set themselves to a 45/40/35 countdown, but if they're still there I can't find them.
bit the bullet and bought one of these from the German site..for a little less and arrived 4 days later. Have been using it since and it's absolutely great. Even though I now need reading glasses so need big digits helps, I can still read it without and the wrist vibration feature is brilliant. Would highly reccomend if not a little pricey.
the killer features I need for a watch are
- counts down to zero (not upwards, people always want to know how much longer, not how much has passed)
- vibrate option (as opposed to beep, it's for me not for everyone else)
- large enough numbers for me to see without my glasses :redface:
the casio rft has the first two and - just - the third as well.
