Pretty much stand 100 % with Dixie TBH. Happy to be aware of patterns of play (which can give you stuff to look out for and positioning tips, whilst keeping an open mind) but would honestly rather NOT know about history of foul play, abuse, as feel I might then help create a problem which maybe wouldn't have existed otherwise.

The only exception is if I know I am being sent to handle teams with a history of trouble between them and the Society knows it needs a firm hand at the tiller.

Exactly - it already happens and the ref usually knows about it.

Happy times. One of the dismissed players is denying the charge of abuse on the grouns that he didn't swear (in which case either I've gone quite mad and am hearing voices or...). Disciplinary on Thurs, unable to attend (am in La France) so will be available by phone.
