No. Tackle was good but Law 14:Watching Italy vs England. Blue winger 14 heading down right wing Marcus smith makes tackle then while on floor post tackle pulls him into touch, lineout England.
correct call? Tackle made should release right?
Correct. Smith did exactly as you describe and at least in theory should have been penalised.Watching Italy vs England. Blue winger 14 heading down right wing Marcus smith makes tackle then while on floor post tackle pulls him into touch, lineout England.

This one? White 13 brings Blue 11 down - and then grabs his leg, pulls it over, then pushes down on to the whitewash.similar happened in the 2nd half - sorry - cant recall any details though.
Marchant maybe did the leg placement into touch ?

Of course that doesn't make White's action legal, just not material (Blue was no longer holding the ball). But the lineout wasn't given.
I realised on Sunday that we have discussed this before but I couldnt recall what the general consensus may have been!Q - if the tackler gets to his feet, is he then allowed to drag the ball carrier - still holding the ball - into touch
Or, more generally, : if a player is on the ground holding the ball, is it legal to drag him along the ground?
No - players in a ruck latching onto the tackled player on the ground isn't permitted in an attempt to secure a ruck so logically you can't drag a player on the ground into touch. PK the first infringement depending on the timing of events and verbally manage the other one.Q - if the tackler gets to his feet, is he then allowed to drag the ball carrier - still holding the ball - into touch
