Got a strange log in issue. When I'm not logged in, I have no problems viewing the main rugbyrefs.com 'front page'. However, when logged in, I have access denied. Any ideas?

If you have "Access Denied" how were you able to post about it?

At what point to you get the "Access Denied" message, or what were you trying to do when you got it?

I can post just fine. It's the page http://www.rugbyrefs.com (i.e. the front page) I have problems with but only when I'm logged in. Can view it fine when not logged in.

Are you sure the access denied message is from Rugby Refs and not from your browser?

Does the front page have pop ups, animations or other permissions required?

Might be your browser settings.

Yep, I was thinking that too.

If its the forum that is denying access, then the message should say something like "vBulletin Message. Sorry, you don't have permission to access this page."

It's the vBulletin message I'm getting, reproduced below:

"vBulletin Message
colesy, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation."

OK, that is something that Robbie may have to sort out

It's not as if the front page is of any value anyway! just go straight to the New Posts section of the forums. (sorry Robbie)

Must be a usergroup issue.

I'll look at the settings in a sec and sort it.

Heres a tip (if you are using Firefox or a browser that has a bookmark toolbar - mine is a row that appears directly below the address bar and above the tabs)

Click on New Posts

Click on Mark Forums Read

Click on New Posts again

You'll get a message

Sorry, there are no new posts to view.

You may search for posts updated during the previous 24 hours, here

Hold your mouse over the "here", then left-click-hold-drag up to the Bookmarks Toolbar

Use the bookmark properties to give it a name (I call it "Last 24")

From now on, when you click "Last 24" it will open a tab with list of all the posts made to the forum in the Last 24 hours, and any new posts will separated and and grouped together at the top with the thread titles in bold type

works a treat
