have all (or most) of the red cards been validated by a decent result at the disciplinary hearings?

Only one red card disciplinary I got to hear about - One of the 2nd XV ones... Ban was 48 weeks. 1) Trampling, 2) Physical abuse of match official (me) on his way off after seeing red for trampling.

The rest, no idea!

Reffed 8 2nd XV matches
Reffed 16 U19 matches
Reffed 11 U16 matches
Reffed 4 U15 matches

as you say it may well be a general youth disipline issueo in your area, but to play "devil's advocate" and in no way intended as any criticism of you Al, do you have a match management issue that needs to be resolved ?

I would be looking to watch and work with one of my members who had your level of dismissals - 20% or one in every five matches. We have had 8 dismissals across the whole of Hampshire in all youth and schools matches this season.

Yes for the last 10 seasons (and played against them in 1970s).

Not sure how many games I have reffed this season at Senior or U19 level, but I have issued 4 :rc: and 16 :yc: .

Four reds have been - 1 for knee to the head, 1 for trampling, 1 for punching and 1 for stamping.

all 4 have been at U19 level, and all 4 received bans issued by the WRU U19 disciplinary committee, and none appealed

I genuinely don't think it's a managment issue to be honest and trust me, I am my own harshest critic. I think the fact that I have refereed a LOT of games helps bump up the card count.

Just going to try and recollect what they were all for if possible:

U19: - 1 x Dissent, 2 x Stamp on head,

U16: - 1 for numerous punches
- 1 for recieving 2nd yellow, both yellows for dissent
- 2 x full out dissent

U15: - 1 x punch

2nd XV: One for very personal abuse of match official, 1 for casually walking over another player (trampling).

And if anyone's wondering what the AR recommendation one was, it was 3 punches and 2 stamps in a girls match.

i find that if a junior team are illdisciplined . then they tend to be very illdisciplined .. and you only have to look at the coach to see why...
a generalisation but nrly always true ..
as soon as i meet the coach i can usually guess what type of match i am going to have to referee .. and can adapt accordingly e.g. brief and early warnings.
e.g. early u19s .. 5 matches in august .. 3 matches no cards ... 2 matches = 2 and 3 yellow cards.. same team!
oct = 7 matches ..= 7 yellows
nov = 10 matches = 4 yellows
dec/jan: bad weather
feb = 6 matches = 6 yellows, 4 in one match!
etc
so not a trend for junior matches more for specific teams methinks
