Is this still the law?

"LAW 5.2 HALF TIME

After half time the teams change ends. There is an interval of not more than 10 minutes. The length of the interval is decided by the match organiser, the Union or the recognised body which has jurisdiction over the game. During the interval the teams, the referee and the touch judges may leave the playing enclosure."

I just copied that from the top of the first screen.

I have the impression, but have never actually timed it, that televised matches have longer than ten minutes half-time.

Any observations?

I read that as the length up to the prescribed maximum - that they may take less, but not more, than 10.

The super 14 matches are all about 10-12 minutes between halves. I think you are just imagining things.

But when do they start timing? When the half-time whistle is blown? When both teams have disappeared from view? When the door to the changing room shuts?

And what is the sanction if a team is 10 seconds late?

Can the other team start? :D

Depends if the commerical break has finished or not OB !

If the break has finished and a team is late backout, the sanction is having to listen to Murray Mexted, Joel Stransky or Stuart Barnes drivel on and on depending on where in the world you are.

I know I need to get a life, but as a result of this thread, I timed the break in the Ospreys v Leinster match last night.

From end of first half whistle to start the second half whistle was 11 minutes and 30 seconds; 15% outside the LOTG.

I want to meet Glyndwr. He sounds like an interesting bloke... I just wish I was as cool as him.

Great idea Rob -I will introduce it next season.

And check for white bootlaces, and ironed shirt collars & shorts creases.

back to the old days, no praise, just points of improvement and highlighting what you did wrong.
