Cheers Pegleg - appreciate the help @;-)

Clearly had the kick not connected with the player, it wouoldn;t have landed within 10m of him. that's what I needed to say! :)

yes they do. But the OP description is the only info available and he didn;t mention that it was a kick that would have landed within 10m of the player that got hit. We have nothing else to go on.

Worth referring to the pickle of the law clarification from 2011 in respect of the 10m law and chargedowns!

http://laws.worldrugby.org/?domain=10&clarlaw=11&clarification=81

Looks to allow capacity for advantage and then penalty against the blue player ultimately recovering the ball?

"If the ball is not charged down but is played or touches an opposition player and a player from the kicker’s side is within the 10 metre area in front of the kick that player is liable to penalty in accordance with Law 11.4(f)."

Could reasonably be applied to the ball touching a player from his own side rather than the opposition, in my view.

By the same token it does not mention that it would not either. So the possiblity has to be considered.

It also doesn't say the winger 40m metres away was punching his opposite number.

or that he was carrying a kalashnikov.

You might have covered the AK-47's at the prematch stud check. Bit embarrassing if you only notice that dangerous bit of metal late in the game, especially if his opponents failed to break thru' his " defense" earlier on in the game. Bullet ridden cadavers should serve you as a "heads up" in future matchs of this sort...
That of any loud statico sounds from either wing. Obviously any 100 round drums should be confiscated before kick-off.

With the way RSA is heading, perhaps WR might like to add this to the LoTG, to protect travelling Pro14 sides.
