I heard tonight that the decision to ignore the regulations was made by the Stadium officials and not the union.


Only in Wales!


I spoke to the someone fairly senior in the Referee's dept and it certainly seems that the above is correct. It could have opened a can of worm has Abergaveny failed to score.

agree. that sounds like a quasi-order/strong plea to either keep playing until somebody wins, or invent a plausible reason/ignore something to allow somebody to win

Indeed ..
It usually amounts to deliberately shortening of extending the game .

I would say it is received wisdom at grass roots level.
Harder with a big stadium clock ..

The more difficult to defend cases involve awarding it not awarding a PK to a side that is 3 points down ...
